The assessment of the size of lymph nodes plays a crucial role in the clinical diagnosis of tumor patients. During any clinical investigation, anamnestic data of a patient such as age, BMI and body weight are always collected, but the possible connections between these anamnestic data and the lymph node findings are little known. The knowledge of such relationships can be of great importance for the risk assessment of a malignant event. The aim of this work was to represent the size change of lymph nodes in relation to the anamnestic data of age, body mass index and body weight within a defined population group in a physiological context. As part of the randomized and controlled SHIP-MRI study by the University of Greifswald, this study examined the data sets of 1451 probands. The total of the test persons consisted of the cohorts SHIP-Trend (990 test persons) and SHIP-2 (461 test persons). The SHIP-Trend cohort group includes 495 male and 495 female probands aged between 21 and 89 years. The SHIP-2 cohort group consisted of 221 male and 240 female subjects probands aged 30-89 years. The data sets were assessed by two independently working examiners. The examined neck region is located between the intervertebral discs of the cervical vertebrae 2 and 3 and the intervertebral discs of the cervical vertebrae 6 and 7 on both sides. The lymph nodes were measured in two levels and recorded in their anatomical position. The longitudinal and transverse diameters were determined for ...
