  • Beschreibung: The fact of the modern workplace is that stress is a fundamental and widespread threat to firms and employee productivity. Indian railway is taken to be the train of national development. Indian Railways is one of the biggest employers in the world, employing approximately 13.6 lakh people. A study must be conducted to reveal the effects of job stress on employee performance since it is the responsibility of the personnel department of the railways to manage and care for the welfare of such a vast number of employees and their families. The present study covered 120 employees of the personnel department working at the division office in Ahmedabad, Western Zone. Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (IWPQ) developed by Koopmans and Job Stress Scale by Donald F. Parker and Thomas A. DeCotiis were used as tools. It was found that all three components of employee performance together impact job stress. Also, job stress reduces with increasing years of service. However, management can take action to reduce it and offer staff counseling so they may acquire stress-reduction strategies and get rid of the stress issue
