<jats:p><jats:bold>Whitehouse:</jats:bold> In the USA, the Agency for Healthcare Policy and Research has recently issued guidelines for early recognition and assessment of dementia, which I think this group should aim to incorporate in its deliberations. Interestingly, to assess patient function, they selected an instrument from the literature called the FAQ, which as far as I am aware, is not widely known by people in the field. Would anyone like to comment on this test? These guidelines will influence GPs, because they will be made aware of the recommendations by government information leaflets.</jats:p>
