<jats:p>As the authors of this article point out, clarification about what constitutes the core functions of an educational psychology service is long overdue. Their summary of the recently published DfEE Report on the current role of educational psychology services leads to a discussion of some of the implications for the future which will be of particular interest to SENCOs. In keeping with the theme of equity they discuss the dilemmas caused by, for example, the wide variation in staffing levels across EP services.</jats:p>
