  • Beschreibung: <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>Evapotranspiration and transpiration were determined for <jats:italic>Aphalandra squarrosa</jats:italic> Nees. ‘Dania’, <jats:italic>Maranta leuconeura Kerchoviana</jats:italic> E. Morr., <jats:italic>Philodendron scandens</jats:italic> subsp. <jats:italic>oxycardium</jats:italic> (Schott) Bunt., and <jats:italic>Brassaia actinophylla</jats:italic> Endl. <jats:italic>Aphelandra</jats:italic> transpiration was 1.5 to 2 times more per unit leaf area than other species. The hypostomatous leaves of <jats:italic>Aphelandra</jats:italic> and <jats:italic>Brassaia</jats:italic> had 151 and 131 stomata per mm<jats:sup>2</jats:sup>; stomatal density per mm<jats:sup>2</jats:sup> was 66 for <jats:italic>Maranta</jats:italic> and 29 for <jats:italic>Philodendron</jats:italic> on abaxial surface, and 12 and 9, respectively, on adaxial surface. Midday abaxial water vapor conductance was 0.46, 0.26, 0.16, and 0.06 cm sec<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup> for <jats:italic>Aphelandra, Brassaia, Maranta</jats:italic>, and <jats:italic>Philodendron</jats:italic>, respectively.</jats:p>
