<p>This paper investigates the probability distribution of the number of leavers in a graded organisation in which the grade sizes are fixed. Subject to certain qualifications, it is shown that these numbers are approximately distributed in the Poisson form. It is shown how this result may be used in estimating prediction errors.</p>
