  • Beschreibung: In German speaking countries, the number of participatory research projects is increasing, but participatory data analysis is still rarely conducted. Referring to the project "ElfE – Parents Asking Parents," part of the "PartKommPlus – Research Consortium for Healthy Communities," we describe a participatory data analysis which applied the coding process of grounded theory methodology (GTM). This methodology is suitable for participatory approaches in important ways: The detailed reference to the data and the coding as a cyclical process enables people without training in the social sciences to take part in a collaborative working process. Further components of GTM are often seen as challenging. The central theme of ElfE is the support of health equity in families with pre-school children. In two municipalities parents with children in pre-school took part as peer-researchers. The whole research process was carried out in participatory workshops. Core messages were developed for municipal authorities, practitioners, and the other parents. In this article, we report on the participative data analysis by using an empirical example. As a well-established analytic approach in qualitative social research GTM is supportive in developing further the methodology in participatory research. Reduced data collection, appropriate process management and division of labor between academic researchers and co-researchers are preconditions.
