<jats:p>The efforts of the canton of Thurgau in the field of silviculture and hunting of the last quarter of the century are being presented for future strategic orientation. The circular no. 21 of the Swiss Agency of Environment, Forests and Landscape (SAEFL) dated 22.11.1995 and the accompanying explanations are examined and interpreted with regard to the conditions of the canton of Thurgau. On this basis, a cantonal strategy for wood and game is being drafted. A strict hunting of deer and near-to-nature silviculture as well as the taking into consideration of numerous external influences on the wild fauna and flora and their habitats continue to be the main support of the plan. Furthermore, traditional measures preventing game damage are possible under special preconditions. The new regional forest plan (Regionaler Waldplan RWP), which fixes superposed hunting and silvicultural measures, acts as a new instrument. A simple, pragmatic, and yet effective application of the fixed regulations in connection with a consequent controlling is the focus here.</jats:p>
