  • Beschreibung: Empirical studies to verify and refine theoretical models are increasingly important in economics. This is reflected in a rising number of empirical contributions to journals where the authors have collected their own research data or used external datasets. However, so far there have been few effective means to access the results of economic research within the framework of the corresponding article. Also to cite, to replicate or to make the research data that was used in a paper available for repurposing often is not possible. Initially our paper describes the status quo in regard to the management of research data in economic scholarly journals. In a second step the results of an empirical study conducted by the DFG-funded research project EDa- WaX (European Data Watch Extended) are presented and discussed. The project evaluated the data availability policies of some economic scholarly journals. Based on the results of the study the question is raised how publication-related research data can reasonably be made available.
