L'Irlande s'insère de plus en plus dans un schéma général en Occident de changement social. De plus, elle est, en raison de sa nouvelle richesse, sur la voie de devenir un des pays prospères de l'Union. Dans ce travail, on s'interroge sur la nature du modèle adopté par les Irlandais pour mettre en œuvre le changement social. Malgré un écart grandissant entre ses riches et ses pauvres, l'Irlande ne semble pas encore avoir clairement fait son choix entre un modèle d'inspiration anglo-saxonne qui s'appuie essentiellement sur le marché et un modèle européen qui cherche à concilier dynamisme économique et cohésion sociale.
Ireland is increasingly conforming to the Western model of social change. Because of tis newfound wealth the country is also becoming one of the European Union's better-off countries. This article examines the nature of the model adopted by the Irish to operate social change. In spite of an increasing gap between the rich and the poor Ireland would not yet seem to have made its choice between an American neo-liberal model which gives priority to the workings of market forces and a European-inspired one which tries to reconcile economic dynamism and social cohesion.
